For power chucks, spare parts also include the master jaws, T-nuts, wedge plungers, and crucial seals that prevent contamination. Using high-quality or genuine spare parts is critical for ensuring the chuck operates as intended and maintains its original accuracy and clamping force.
EXAMPLE :Instead of using the chuck's standard hard jaws, the machinist would replace them with a set of soft jaws. These soft jaws are then machined to perfectly match the contour of the workpiece. This ensures a precise, secure grip that won't damage the part. After the job is complete, the machinist can easily swap the soft jaws back out for the hard jaws to return to normal operation.
