A stationary power chuck, often referred to as a static power chuck, is a non-rotating, power-operated workholding device used to securely clamp a workpiece on a machine tool's table. Unlike a standard power chuck that rotates with the spindle of a lathe, this chuck remains fixed and is primarily used for milling, drilling, and grinding operations on machines like VMCs (Vertical Machining Centers) and HMCs (Horizontal Machining Centers).

Key Features and Operation

• Power Source: The clamping and unclamping are powered by a hydraulic or pneumatic source, which provides a consistent and high clamping force. This is typically controlled by an external power pack or the machine's own hydraulic system.

• Fixed Position: The chuck is mounted directly onto the machine's T-slotted table or a dedicated fixture. Its stationary nature makes it ideal for holding parts for operations that require the cutting tool to move around the workpiece.
